Welcome to Prescription To Get Active
You are here because you’re thinking of moving more.
Making the decision to move more and sit less is exciting, but can be overwhelming and intimidating.
Our resources are here to guide you along your journey. They’ll work for you at any age and offer you many ways to reap the rewards of getting more active.
Remember: Moving is for EVERYONE. It doesn’t matter where you start, only that you start.
Follow these simple steps to ensure that getting started is as easy as possible.
#1. Get your Prescription To Get Active!:
If you have not been active in a while but you would like to get started, Talk to your Primary Care Network (PCN) doctor or health care professional. If your (PCN) provider agrees that you should increase your physical activity, they will give you a specially designed Prescription To Get Active.
#2. Record your Prescription To Get Active with us:
Click here to record your Prescription To Get Active and to download your own Getting Started with Physical Activity 6-week guide. This is a great resource that will take you from little to no physical activity in your day up to 90 minutes in as little as 6 weeks. It is suitable for anyone who is looking to get moving more.
#3. Start moving your way:
Option A: Get more active at home or outdoors within your community, like going for a walk for 10 minute in the evenings. Visit the Get Active page on our website for a variety of activity options for you to explore.
Option B: Take your Prescription To Get Active to one of our participating facilities to redeem the special offer they have arranged exclusively for you.
* Please note the Prescription To Get Active program does not support the use of one recreation/partner facility over another. It is the participants discretion as to which facility will best suit their needs and individual interests.
#4. Decide what is next:
When the Prescription To Get Active offer has been used up, you can then discuss further options with the facility you have been attending. Learn about additional offers or promotions that may be available to you.
Keep exploring the Get Active Tab often to find new and exciting ways to stay active all year round.
